Winter 2016 President's Letter

Posted on

Hello, Fellow GGFOA Members:

I would like to begin by wishing everyone a Happy New Year! I have enjoyed spending time with family and friends during the past couple of weeks, and I hope you have as well. As we enter into the New Year, the GGFOA has hit the ground running. I am sure a lot of you will begin working on a new budget, so will the GGFOA. The first GGFOA Conference Committee meeting was held in January, and the first 2016 Board meeting is scheduled in early February.

I hope you will bear with us as we work through a few kinks with the new website. We have been getting a lot of comments regarding the online membership renewal process, and we are close to resolving all the issues. Thank you for your patience and valuable feedback as we continue to improve the website and make it the tool that we envision it becoming.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at Stone Mountain this year for the 31st Annual Conference. Our conference has been growing by leaps and bounds over the last few years, and we want to keep that momentum moving forward. We had record attendance at last year’s conference, and we hope to break even more records this year. Please join us in Stone Mountain this fall to network with other government finance professionals and gain valuable knowledge from industry experts about the most current issues affecting the industry. Mark your calendar for October 3 through October 7, 2016.

We are continuing the Wednesday’s News You Can Use! webinars again this year, covering the topics that are most relevant to our members. If you miss a webinar, we encourage you to watch it later online. Wednesday’s News You Can Use! archives are available  on our Education and Training page (requires website login). We continue to strive to create an archive of educational resources for each member of GGFOA.

Our organization could not thrive without great partners and volunteers like the people helping us today. If you are interested in being one of those volunteers, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us. A complete list of all Board members and committee chairs can be found on the website,
