Thanks to all who attended the virtual conference in October – what a great conference! The feedback we received in the conference evaluations was predominantly positive and I know those who participated learned a lot. Even though it was virtual and we missed seeing each other, many still managed to fellowship through the chat box. All in all, I would call it a great success!
We are already beginning to plan for next year’s conference at Chateau Elan, where we hope to be together in person once again. I cherish all of the friendships I have made through GGFOA in the last 20+ years, and I am looking forward to seeing you all as we strive for excellence as government finance professionals.
GGFOA and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government have partnered for many years to bring professional development opportunities to finance professionals in Georgia. An exciting development this year is the addition of the Public Finance Leadership Academy to the professional development opportunities offered by CVIOG. At the GGFOA Board meeting on October 30th, we approved two scholarships for this program. Scholarship recipients for the inaugural session of the PFLA that begins in January will be posted on the GGFOA website. We look forward to their feedback and watching this promising program grow. Detailed information on this program can be found here.
I’d like to take this opportunity, once again, to thank our Past President, Chiquita Danzy, the Board and Committees for all of the hard work that went into making this past year a success. I look forward to serving with the new Board and Committees for the rest of my term as President of GGFOA! I also look forward to seeing everyone – in person – at the 36th Annual GGFOA Conference at Chateau Elan October 3 – October 6, 2021!
Stay safe and healthy!
