I hope this newsletter finds you in good spirits. We are excited about this year’s GGFOA Virtual Annual Conference. It will be a new adventure we will chart together. This year’s theme is “2020 A Whole New World.” Registration is currently open through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s website at https://cviog.uga.edu/training-and-education/conferences/ggfoa.html, or you may click on the link from our website at https://ggfoa.org/conference. Registration is open through September 25, 2020. Since the conference is virtual, everyone has an opportunity to attend all sessions. Classes are being offered October 5 – 30, 2020, with over 60 CPE credits available.
In current news, I hope you all had a chance to attend the webinar on the CARES Act that was brought to you through our partnership with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG). It was highly informative. Through this grant, governments can recoup some of the unallocated funds that were expensed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am sure there will be more information forthcoming with Round 2 and Round 3 to be decided, as well as for guidance on how to account for this grant. Also, look out for our news blasts and upcoming webinars for valuable information about this topic.
The conference is almost upon us and we are looking forward to our virtual experience. Behind the scenes, a lot has been done to pull off the best virtual conference ever. Thanks to Melanie Kearns, John Hulsey, Linda Cook, and all the board members for being dedicated and diligent during this period. I am forever grateful for their hard work, time, and sacrifice to help GGFOA continue to be successful. We look forward to surfing with you at the conference. Do not forget to register, and see you on October 5 through October 30, 2020, for our 35th Annual Conference.
