Dear Fellow GGFOA Members,
Our 34th Annual Conference in Savannah, GA at the Riverfront Marriott will be here before you know it, September 29 – October 2, 2019. The annual conference committee has been working extremely hard to finalize last minute preparations for our conference. The theme this year is Anchored in Excellence. Our conference committee has prepared a jam-packed, exciting agenda for you all! You will have an opportunity to earn a total of 17.4 CPE credits or 14.5 CEUs throughout the conference so be prepared to “Anchor in Excellence!” If you are interested in learning more about the conference, please visit our Annual Conference webpage where you can view the conference brochure and register. Registration opened the first week in July and there is still time to register. In August the registration fee increased by $50 and then in September the registration fee will increase by an additional $50.
We will kick off the conference with our 4th Annual Cocktail Connections: Ask an Expert! Replacing the Sunday President’s Reception, this event will be held Sunday afternoon/early evening from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Cocktail Connections is an informal networking opportunity that is very beneficial to both attendees and exhibitors. Ask our experts any questions you have and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres. Drink tickets for the event will be provided courtesy of SunTrust.
On Tuesday evening, we are excited to announce the return of Casino Night! In addition to fun games, we’ll also have a DJ in the house to provide music to keep the party going, so you can let your hair down and have a ball! Mauldin & Jenkins will sponsor beverages for the evening. A dinner buffet is also scheduled Tuesday evening before Casino Night begins.
We will conclude the conference on Wednesday with Walt Stasinski as our keynote speaker. Speaking on the topics “The Power of Fun” and “Ten Ways to Really Inspire Employees,” Walt is geared up to energize, inspire, and entertain us all as we head back to our careers and families.
Friends, always remember that an anchor is meant to hold you steady, not drag you down with it. Striving for excellence is a continuous process. My hope for you is that you will learn valuable information from this conference to help you meet your goals personally and professionally, and that you will come out of this conference motivated to stay “Anchored in Excellence!”
GGFOA is proud to host three charity drives: American Cancer Society, Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Disabled American Veterans. If you donate before the conference, just bring proof of your donation to receive a ticket for the various raffles prizes to be drawn on Wednesday. One ticket per attendee. GGFOA will provide a computer at the conference if you decide to donate at the conference.
