What a great conference! This was our second time at Stone Mountain, and I believe everyone enjoyed it even more this time around. Whether you played a round of golf, took a hike, or just sat around the pool, the scenery and weather were perfect!
We broke records again this year with 479 attendees, 33 sponsors, and 52 exhibitors. Karine Brooms and the conference committee provided an excellent conference this year for our membership. I want to thank all the exhibitors, sponsors, and presenters for their participation. Without their support, we would not have been able to have a successful conference! The knowledge they share with us helps keep our members abreast of all the current regulations and aware of the new ones just over the horizon. I hope you gained some knowledge to help you “RACE to the Top” with your organization!
Over the past few years, we have made many leaps forward by providing online payments, updated website functionality, and continued free education through our webinars and archives. This year we are working towards providing a ListServ for members and expanding outreach to colleges/universities to educate upcoming graduates about governmental accounting career opportunities.
With more progress each year comes more work. Without our volunteers on the Board and Committees, we would not be able to provide all these exceptional services. We are always looking for more volunteers to answer the call to help GGFOA. Is that you? Are you interested in joining our team? Descriptions of our committees and the committee chairs are found at https://ggfoa.org/about-us/committees.
I would like to take a moment to thank our past president, Tina Wetherford, the Board, and Committees on all the hard work this past year. I look forward to serving with you all again this year and I am honored to be your President of GGFOA! I look forward to making this another great year for you, our members. I hope to see all of you at the Savannah Riverfront Marriott in Savannah for the 34th Annual Conference September 29 – October 2, 2019.
