Hello, Fellow GGFOA Members!
Happy New Year to all! It is great having the time off for the holidays, but also good to get back to work. I hope 2017 is a successful year for everyone. The New Year is only a few weeks old and the Conference Committee is already diligently working to prepare a great conference for you again this year. The Board and the Committees are also working to establish and document the new procedures that have been created due to the addition of the new website.
We are continuing to fine tune the new website. Many of the past issues have been resolved. As with any new venture, there are always new challenges that arise. The dedication of the Communications Committee is steadfast in continuing to resolve these issues. You can be assured that your website is being overseen by the best GGFOA has to offer.
The 32nd Annual GGFOA Conference will be held October 1 - 4, 2017. This year’s Conference will be held in Savannah at the Marriott Riverfront. Those that have attended the Conference in Savannah know it is always a great place for the Conference. The Conference Committee has already begun compiling lists of possible topics for the sessions. You have contributed to this procedure if you gave us input on your survey at the end of the last year’s Conference. If you have a suggestion for a session or any area of the Conference, please submit your idea to the committee as soon as possible. GGFOA is your organization, we are here to facilitate the continued education of topics and subject matter that are timely and relevant to you and your organization.
First time attendees of the GFOA 2017 Annual Conference have an opportunity to attend free! Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) 2017 Annual Conference will take place in Denver, Colorado, May 21-24. National GFOA active government members who have not previously attended GFOA’s Annual Conference may apply for a first time annual conference registration fee. Fifty scholarships will be awarded per state in the order the applications are received. To date, 6 applicants have received the scholarship for the state of Georgia. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will continue the Wednesday’s News You Can Use! webinars this year. GGFOA and CVIOG work together to produce these webinars on topics that are current and relevant to you, the members. If you miss a webinar you can still view it at your convenience. The GGFOA website contains archives of the webinars on our Education and Training page (requires website login). All webinars are kept there and may be viewed by any member at any time with no charge.
GGFOA works for the benefit of you. Our success is due to the volunteers from our membership together with the partners from the associate members. If you are interested in becoming involved with the board or committees, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us. A complete list of all board and committee chairs can be found on our website www.ggfoa.org.
